At Edithouse we produced a Launch film for a new concept for Volvo, the V60 plugin Hybrid.
I did some car renders, both interior and exterior. For this project we choose to render with V-ray for Maya. We normally use mental ray but wanted to achieve a better result.
The car paint on this car were a bit different. A pearl white surface with almost no reflections. To render a car paint without reflections was pretty hard. So the lighting became even more important then it normally is.
I also did some glow effects to illustrate the cars three powers. For this I used optical flares for after effects. I just added som colored light that emerged from the headlight and moved backwards towards the rear of the car.
